About 100 people turned out today to focus on Fondren - and funds that have been allocated to provide what city leaders are dubbing 'transportation enhancement improvements'. A $2,000,000 federal grant was awarded last year and requires a $500,000 city match.

Planners Seek Public Input for Enhancement Project in Fondren

The City of Jackson is requesting public input for a transportation enhancement project for the Fondren area. This special 'brainstorming' session will be held next Monday, April 9 from 4:30pm – 6:30pm at Duling Hall at 622 Duling Avenue. The meeting will allow for public input as to the needs that could be addressed and representatives from the City, along with Neel Schaffer, the firm awarded the grant, will be on hand.

The evening, moderated by Fondren resident, activist and business owner Jeff Good, hosted around 150 in the Woodland Hills Baptist Church auditorium.

This will be an informative time where all groups under the Foundation “umbrella” will present their programs, needs, issues and concerns for the coming year.

City crews fix busted water line

City crews fix busted water line

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A water line break on State Street is affecting several establishments, including the Mississippi Department of Health and Back Yard Burger.  

The location of the break is between Veterans Memorial Stadium and UMC.  

One lane of northbound traffic and one lane of southbound traffic are blocked as City of Jackson crews tend to the break.

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Are you a Jackson resident? Do you have a question for the mayor or just want to talk to him?

Tomorrow is your chance for “One on One with Mayor Johnson.”

Citizens of Jackson, who would like to discuss issues, report problems, share ideas or speak with Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr., will have the opportunity before Tuesday’s City Council meeting.

Residents who wish to speak with the mayor need to sign up between 9-9:30 a.m. Tuesday a City Hall. The “One on One with Mayor Johnson” will start at 9:30 a.m.
