It's no secret: finding a parking place can be an adventure in Fondren - especially at meal times or during special events. But there's one group who says their founder came here from New Orleans for that very same reason. The Gaddis Group, named for the late artist John Gaddis, is said to have started when he couldn't find a parking spot in New Orleans - and moved to Jackson. Gaddis began teaching watercolor in the capital city and, over many years, acquired a large group of students.

Congratulations to Kaye Simmons, who yesterday celebrated her eighteenth year in business! Simmons’ Designer Shoe Palace began on Lakeland Drive almost two decades ago but has been in Fondren for almost four years. The Shoebar at Pieces as it is now called, is noted for their clothing and accessories, but most noted for their shoes. Simmons says they have styles for every budget, and during yesterday’s reception, we spotted an entire room full of 50% off styles.

Donate a suit for a good cause, get a tie

During the entire month of August, Men’s Wearhouse will hold its annual National Suit Drive.

This will be the fourth year the company will devote an entire 30-day period to encouraging patrons donate their unwanted business-wear to create a second chance Americans facing joblessness, according to a press release from Men's Wearhouse.
