Downtown Jackson Photo Gallery | PHOTOS: Wagon trains mark start of Dixie National Rodeo

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Wagon trains made their way into the Capital City Thursday signaling the start of the Dixie National Rodeo.

Each year, groups travel to Jackson for the rodeo the old-fashioned way – by covered wagons pulled by horses or mules.

They pass right in front of WLBT on Jefferson Street downtown headed to the Mississippi State Fairgrounds.

The annual rodeo and livestock show kicks off Thursday and lasts until Feb. 19.

You can see the wagon trains yourself this weekend. They will parade down Capitol Street starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.

For more information visit the rodeo’s website.
